The castle was built around 1258 and from the top of its walls you can enjoy magnificent views of the two lakes of the dam, the river Lima, the mountains of the National Park Peneda-Geres and the terraced landscape that witness Man's presence over thousands of years.
The granitic granaires result of community effort - used for storing and drying the corn-cobs. It is not common to see such concen-tration of them in one place. The circular ends of stone pillars are a protective mesure to prevent the entrance of rodents
If you walk round the granaries, the path will lead you to a stone cross, on the way to the parish church. In the vestry you will find a copperplate used to gather the collect during the mass. Go to the village centre and enjoy the rustic houses, the cobbled streets, the public fountains and the hundred-year-old public washing tank.
